EXIT SYRIA Project* "It’s been described as one of the worst humanitarian disasters of our time, the greatest refugee crisis since World War II. Since erupting two and a half years ago, the war in Syria has claimed some 100,000 lives and caused an exodus to a scale not seen in decades. So far, millions of Syrians have been displaced and poured into neighbouring countries to live in makeshift camps under extremely harsh conditions. Za’atari is such a place. Rough, dusty, barren, the refugee camp, located on the border of Syria and Jordan is fast growing into a metropolis and now accommodates around 120,000 people. For the families struggling to survive the conditions of the desert camp - what is daily life like for them? This diary takes you right inside the refugee camp. Over the next four weeks, our crew will immerse themselves in Za’atari, giving you unprecedented insight into the lives of three refugees who agreed to share their stories – stories of resourcefulness, ingenuity and resilience in the most extraordinary circumstances". *text from the SBS website

CRICKET AUSTRALIA recruited JETZAK to follow the 2012 Indigenous Cricket team on a two week tour of India. Determined to raise the profile of the young cricketeers and the CRICKET OZ indigenous cricket program, a decision was made to go beyond a simple feel good short corporate and create a documentary intended for broadcast on a mainstream platform as well as on CRICKET Oz's online channel. Following subsequent discussions and a successful pitch to NITV, a commitment to broadcast and additional funding was obtained. The level of commitment from broadcasters can vary widely, from merely providing a slot to a fully fledged commission. Partnering with broadcasters has wide reaching benefits in terms of increasing number of viewers but also vital for awareness raising and burying key messaging inside an entertaining and palatable mainstream delivery medium. Ultimately the project morphed into a three part series (90 mins) Post production is in the final stages and it will be aired in May/June 2013 and be accompanied with cross platform presence and a contest element. NITV [like cable] has the habit of running their content multiple times and ensures CRICKET AUSTRALIA'S indigenous program will be getting ongoing exposure and promotion well into the future. QAIHC, the peak body for Aboriginal and Islander Health in Queensland approached JETZAK tocreate several TVC's for Broadcast across Queensland and Online. We are particularly proud of these pieces and they speak volumes in terms of taking 'hard to market' and sometimes sombre messaging into fun, accesible and informative media products.
JETZAK partners with IFACSS in Brisbane to create a media campaign to raise the numbers of foster/kinship carers in Brisbane metro. CENTACARE in Mt.ISA wanted to tell some stories about homeless people in their area as well as create a TVC to raise awareness of their plight. JETZAK travelled to Mt.ISA to produce a series of touching and inspiring series of human profile stories, and a TVC. A dedicated ONLINE CHANNEL was also created to showcase the campaign, just in time sadly for their budget to be substantially reduced.;(. It was an amazing and humbling experience for us, especially as it was just around christmas. They are just one of the many excellant Orgs. in Australia dedicated to stemming the growing tide of homelessness and despair in this otherwise lucky country.
